The MOD 007 HE Year of the Dragon is the perfect blend of unique design, high quality, and powerful performance—and the new V2 version takes it a step further. It's designed for those who demand both style and speed—whether chasing the next victory in fast-paced games or aesthetically enhancing their workspace.
In this blog, we take a look at the exciting upgrades of the V2 version – and explain why it is a true masterpiece for the year 2025.
IFA Award – Innovation at its best
The Akko Mod 007 HE Dragon Year has been one of Akko's most popular keyboards since its release. It has received a lot of positive feedback from the community and was honored with the Omdia Innovation Award, one of the most prestigious awards for groundbreaking product innovations, at IFA 2024.
The design of the Mod 007 HE Dragon Year is inspired by the Chinese Year of the Dragon. The primary color is cyan—appropriate for the cyan-colored dragon, which is traditionally associated with the eastern sky, spring, nature, and the vital wood. Cyan symbolizes hope and honor. The design is complemented by finely engraved dragon motifs and gold accents, symbolizing strength, prosperity, and power.
But the keyboard is not only visually impressive:
The Mod 007 HE Dragon Year also offers first-class performance. Thanks to magnetic switches, 0.01mm rapid triggers, an 8K polling rate, and ultra-fast response, it's ideal for top-level gaming.
V2 vs. V1: The most important upgrades
0.01 mm precision with Rapid Trigger
While the V1 was adjustable in 0.1 mm increments, the V2 goes a decisive step further – with ultra-fine 0.01 mm adjustments for absolute control with every keystroke.
0.01 mm is the smallest movement the keyboard can detect. This precision allows you to adjust the actuation height of your keys with the utmost precision.
For example, if you want a key to actuate at exactly 1.35 mm , that's no problem for the V2. With the V1, you would have been limited to 1.3 mm or 1.4 mm.
This means more control , finer customization , and the ability to reliably detect even the smallest finger movements – a major advantage when gaming or typing .
Why doesn't the trigger start at 0.01 mm?
While 0.01 mm of precision sounds impressive, such a low trigger point would be too sensitive. Even simply resting your fingers on the trigger could accidentally activate buttons.
To ensure the perfect balance between precision and ease of use, we set the trigger start point to 0.1 mm.
This small “dead zone” prevents unintentional inputs – especially when reacting quickly in a game or typing quickly – and ensures that every keystroke is deliberate without sacrificing response speed.
RT Stabilizer Mode – Stability meets precision
The high sensitivity of 0.01 mm can potentially lead to unintentional inputs. The reason: Magnetic switches detect any change in the magnetic field—but they don't distinguish between a deliberate keystroke and minimal, natural micro-movements of the hand.
The solution? The V2 version features the new RT Stabilizer Mode – an intelligent filtering algorithm that compensates for signal fluctuations caused by hand tremors or off-center keystrokes in real time.
The result: every keystroke feels smooth, consistent and reliable – just like Whether you're under pressure or typing in a quiet environment.
Best of all, the strength of the filtering is adjustable, so you can find the perfect balance between speed and stability – depending on your playing style or typing behavior.
How do I activate the RT Stabilizer in the V2?
The RT Stabilizer can be activated via the Akko Driver. There are four filter levels to choose from.
The higher the level, the stronger the signal stabilization – however, this can slightly reduce the response speed at higher levels.
For most users, a setting of around 50% offers the ideal balance between speed and stability – especially when using the 0.01 mm Rapid Trigger.
Important: The use of the RT Stabilizer is optional. Some magnetic switches are already very stable by nature, so additional filtering is unnecessary. Even professional gamers with consistent keystrokes often don't benefit from activating the stabilizer.
32,000 Hz scan rate – highest detection accuracy
You may have already noticed that the MOD 007 HE V2 is advertised with a 32,000 Hz scan rate – but what does that actually mean?
The scan rate indicates how often the keyboard checks the status of the keys. A higher rate means faster and more accurate detection of keystrokes and key releases.
The V2 scans the entire keypad 32,000 times per second – this guarantees immediate and error-free recognition, even with complex multiple entries.
- Single-Key Scan Rate: How often a single key is checked – important for lightning-fast response times per key.
- Full-Key Scan Rate: How often all keys are checked simultaneously – crucial when several keys are pressed at the same time.
Thanks to this extremely high frequency in combination with the high polling rate, the V2 registers every input without delay – perfect for competitive gaming and fast typing.
And because the V2 has achieved this 32KHz full-key scan rate, the previous Roar Mode is no longer necessary. The keyboard is now faster, more stable, and simpler out of the box – without any additional features.
Astrolink Magnetic Switches – The heart of the V2
The V2 comes factory-equipped with the new Astrolink Magnetic Switches – Akko's latest generation of magnetic switches.
They are designed for a powerful, clear bottom-out feel and offer a satisfying sound profile that is impressive for both gaming and typing.

Magnetic Switch Compatibility – More Flexible Than Ever Before
The MOD 007 HE Year of the Dragon V2 supports compatibility with five popular third-party magnetic switches, including:
- Akko Windy / Glare
- Gateron Jade
- Gateron Jade Pro
- Gateron Jade Gaming
- TTC Uranus
- TTC King
This means that users can easily swap out the switches and customize the typing feel and response to their individual preferences – without any compromises.
Note: Other magnetic switches with N-pole orientation facing down could theoretically work. However, full 0.01 mm precision may not be guaranteed for non-officially supported models.
For best performance and maximum accuracy, we recommend using officially supported switches.
New: ISO layout support
With version 2, the ISO layout is now supported – in addition to the classic ANSI layout. This is particularly interesting for European users or anyone who prefers the familiar layout with a vertical Enter key and rearranged special characters.
This makes the V2 not only more powerful – but also more accessible and versatile than ever.
Improved stabilizers – precise and quiet
The V2 is equipped with demagnetized stabilizers that reduce magnetic interference, eliminate unwanted noise, and significantly improve the typing feel—especially on larger keys like the spacebar and enter.
The result: smoother, quieter and more stable typing.
ARGB – More colors, more control
The V2 features ARGB lighting with a refresh rate of 500 Hz – for brighter, smoother, and more vibrant lighting effects.
Thanks to addressable RGB, you can control each LED individually – whether you prefer a subtle glow or a colorful RGB show.
Compared to the V1, the V2 offers more effects, finer control and an overall more impressive lighting experience.
Improved cushioning layers – noticeable difference
The V2 relies on an optimized damping layout:
- IXPE switch pad reduced from 0.5 mm to 0.3 mm
- Additional PET layer (0.1 mm)
- VHB layer (1 mm) added
- Case foam increased from 1 mm to 5 mm
This combination provides a softer, more flexible typing feel with better noise insulation and pleasant feedback with every keystroke.
Upgraded PVD weight & engraving details
The V2 also sets new standards visually: The PVD-coated weight with a mirror finish is not only robust and corrosion-resistant, but also resistant to fingerprints.
The highlight is the artfully engraved dragon decoration, which adds depth and symbolism to the design – this keyboard is more than a tool, it is a true work of art.
