AKKO 3084 B Plus the best mechanical keyboard for typing I've ever had!
Mechanical keyboards are now very common. In addition to the big manufacturers like Corsair , Razer, Logitech etc. There are also many smaller manufacturers, some of whom offer somewhat exotic models.
One of these more exotic manufacturers is AKKO, which primarily tries to score points with exotic keycap designs, its own buttons and otherwise a minimalist design.
The AKKO 3084 B Plus offers a super interesting mechanical wireless keyboard for just €80. Of course, despite the wireless design, this has RGB lighting.
AKKO also uses its own Akko CS Jelly Pink switches here. So not Cherry or another big manufacturer, but something of our own. This alone makes the keyboard stand out from the crowd!
But how good are the buttons? How good is the case? Let's find out in the test!
Test: AKKO 3084 B Plus
The AKKO 3084 B Plus is a fairly minimalist keyboard. This relies on a very narrow frame and does not have any additional or media keys apart from the standard keys.
The AKKO 3084 B Plus also does not have a number pad. What we have here is a so-called TKL keyboard.
I am very impressed with the basic workmanship quality! Although the keyboard is made of plastic on the outside, you can notice that there is a thick metal plate on the inside. The keyboard is extremely torsion-resistant and not exactly light.
On the ergonomics side, we have two normal feet that we can fold up. These seem robustly made, but are nothing special in themselves.
Since we have a wireless keyboard here, it of course also requires a battery. This offers 3000mAh and is charged via a USB C port on the back.
Akko CS Jelly Pink Switche
You can get the AKKO 3084 B Plus with the Akko CS Jelly Pink or the Akko CS Jelly Purple.
Akko CS Jelly Pink Switch
Linear
Actuation Force: 45gf ± 5gf
Total Travel: 4.0±0.3mm
Pre-Travel: 1.9±0.3mm
The Akko CS Jelly Pink are roughly equivalent to the CHERRY MX Reds. Here too we have linear buttons without an audible or tactile click.
Excellent typing experience!
I'm going to say something surprising here, I like the Akko CS Jelly Pink better than Cherry MX REDs and all the other mechanical buttons I've had in a keyboard so far.
Basically the buttons are of course similar. The CS Jelly Pink offers a completely linear pressure point. The buttons feel completely the same from the moment you press them until they stop.
The CS Jelly Pink are wonderfully soft and supple. It almost feels like the buttons are “oiled”. The Akko are noticeably softer and smoother than the CHERRY buttons, which is impressive.
In addition, there is an extremely firm and full touch. To maintain this feeling, Akko has integrated a silicone pad into the base, which massively increases the mass of the keyboard.
This makes the keyboard sound richer and deeper. This doesn’t have that high “ping” when you press the keys.
As you can probably tell, I really love the typing feel of the AKKO 3084 B Plus! This keyboard has the best typing experience I have ever experienced on a mechanical keyboard!
However, not everything is perfect either. On the one hand we have the QWERTY layout. According to Akko, QWERTY keycaps will soon be available, but this is not currently the case.
I also needed some getting used to typing on the AKKO 3084 B Plus. I can't tell you why, but somehow the spacing of the keys was unusual for me or something else was confusing my fingers.
However, after approx. After typing for 20 minutes, I have reached a typing speed that I had never experienced before! World class!
Conclusion
At first glance, the AKKO 3084 B Plus is just another mechanical keyboard. However, I was extremely surprised by this!
I'll say it quite clearly, the typing experience here is a lot better than on Corsair's mechanical keyboards, which I'm otherwise used to! I've never had a mechanical keyboard that I can use like this could type quickly like on this one and had so much fun doing it!
I am thrilled with the AKKO 3084 B Plus! I can't tell you whether this is due to the Akko CS Jelly Pink buttons, the silicone-filled base or the simply good construction. However, the result is great!
The choice between a wired connection, Bluetooth or the included USB receiver is also great.
The only thing that speaks against the Akko is the button layout. Currently this is only available with a QWERTY layout. But German keycaps should follow! In addition, the AKKO 3084 B Plus of course uses standard keycaps. Maybe I'll just steal this from another keyboard.
Anyway, I'm really excited about the AKKO 3084 B Plus! At first glance it may look quite classic, but the typing experience is second to none!
